Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television journalist, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in 1967. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). In the following two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. 1981 she started covering for the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to Chief Correspondent to Congress. Then, in 1992 she was named Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell was on an audience for the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards for her journalism achievements, such as her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell initially covered for the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy news stories throughout the years, such as fiscal reform, the budget and an investigation into the Iran Contra saga. Mitchell traveled extensively along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
